The First Meeting of the National Coordination Body of UNIDO’s Country Partnership Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic Was Held

On 28 January 2026, the first meeting of the National Coordination Body of the Country Partnership Programme (CPP) of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for the Kyrgyz Republic for 2025–2029 was held in Bishkek, in the Oval Hall of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic. The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format, with Russian and English as the working languages and simultaneous interpretation provided. The meeting was moderated by Iskender Asylkulov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, and UNIDO representative Ybyrayym uulu Zhanybek.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by the Co-Chairs of the National Coordination Body, including Bakyt Ergeshevich Torobaev, as well as by UNIDO senior management and representatives of international partners. During the meeting, the Regulations of the National Coordination Body were approved, and presentations were delivered on the key elements of the Country Partnership Programme, priority activities for 2026, and approaches to resource mobilization within the framework of CPP implementation. On behalf of the Hungarian–Kyrgyz Development Fund, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board Kanat Kurmanov took part in the meeting.

Particular attention was given to presentations on the priority areas of industrial development of the Kyrgyz Republic and project initiatives in the fields of agro-industry, digitalization, environment, energy, textile and pharmaceutical industries. Representatives of relevant ministries and UNIDO experts presented sectoral projects and planned activities, followed by discussions and a summary of the meeting outcomes. The first meeting of the National Coordination Body marked an important step in the institutional launch of UNIDO’s Country Partnership Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic for the period 2025–2029.
