About participation in the event «AgroForum - 2024»
The Hyatt Regency Bishkek Hotel is hosting the «AgroForum - 2024 «Creating a sustainable agro-industrial sector in the Kyrgyz Republic», organized by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic and the World Bank Group. Ulan Sarbanov, Chairman of the Board of the Fund, takes part in the high-level event from the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund.
Akylbek Usenbekovich Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic - Head of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, delivered a welcoming speech. The report documents the progressive development of various sectors of the economy, the active role of the state in attracting investors and creating a friendly business climate. To achieve the planned plans in 2024 and subsequent years, A.U. Japarov called on the donor community and investors to ensure access to appropriate sources of financing.
The opening speech of Tatyana Proskuryakova, Regional Director of the World Bank for Central Asia, noted the consistent policy of support of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic in such priority sectors as energy, water resources and agriculture. The Agroforum 2024 is already the third high-level event; previously, forums were held on the water (May 31, 2023) and energy (April 8, 2022) sectors.
At the forum, Almaz Baketayev, Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Tatyana Proskuryakova, Regional Director of the World Bank for Central Asia, signed a Financing Agreement for the project “Sustainable Landscape Restoration in the Kyrgyz Republic” in the amount of 52.4 million US dollars. The project involves monitoring mudflows and glaciers in order to reduce economic losses from mudflows and flood processes and increase resistance to such processes in more than 9,500 households and 2,754 households, on 7,828 hectares of farmland and in a number of social facilities.
The results of the forum will be summed up by Bakyt Ergeshevich Torobaev, Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic and Sameh Wahba, World Bank Director for Sustainable Development in the Europe and Central Asia region.
